The cinematograph is one of the greatest inventions of all times. The big screen still awes children and adults alike, and we never get tired of asking who and when cinema was invented or which the first movie was.
Lots of books have been written answering these questions, but we were curious about finding out exactly what happened in Mexico, so we dove into ancient documents and went around asking all sorts of experts.
And, by the end of our journey, we had come up with an answer that very few people know: our first fiction feature film was made in Merida, Yucatan, in 1916!
